Our Commitment to Sustainability

What sustainability means to us

Protecting the environment

Reducing waste, saving energy, and using resources responsibly.

Educating children

Helping children learn about nature, recycling, and the importance of looking after the world around them.

Working together to tackle injustice

Involving staff, families, and our community in building a fairer and more sustainable future.

What We’re Doing

  • Recycling and reusing materials wherever possible
  • Encouraging outdoor play and a connection with the natural world.
  • Using resources that are eco-friendly and long-lasting
  • Reducing single-use plastics and waste within the centre
  • Talking with children about nature, seasons, and how small actions make a big difference
  • Connecting children with their food – including growing food on our own allotment
  • Working with local suppliers wherever we can
  • Generating our own clean energy with solar panels on our roof

“Sustainability isn’t just about our environment, it’s about people and our community too. It means tackling the injustices in our society that mean marginalised communities locally, and global majority communities around the world, are the most negatively impacted by environmental issues; from climate change to air quality”

Why it matters

We want the children in our care to grow up with an understanding of how their choices affect the world — and the confidence to make positive changes collectively as citizens. By embedding sustainability into our daily routines, we are not only protecting the planet but also teaching lifelong values.
