Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team, fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment.
• Design and deliver engaging, child-centred learning experiences—indoors and outdoors.
• Champion anti-racist and trauma-informed practices in all aspects of your work.
• Manage an allocated budget to support your cohort’s needs.
• Support staff development through coaching, regular supervisions, and sharing best practice.
• Collaborate with families and the wider community to ensure every child feels a sense of belonging.
• Contribute to ECCC’s policies and continuous improvement as a key member of our leadership team.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and inclusive practice at all times.

Requirements

• Approved EYTS or QTS Qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a UK Early Years setting.
• At least 1 year’s experience leading an area of practice.
• At least 1 year’s experience of teaching.
• At least 1 year's experience of managing/leading a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Passion for early education and a desire to keep learning and growing.

Tucked behind a carpark, you wouldn’t know we’re there, but enter in and you’ll find a maze of bright open spaces, a large garden with our beloved mighty Ash tree, and children engrossed in all types of discovery. The preschool is home to a Unique and ambitious Centre-wide curriculum which was designed around the question- what does it mean to belong in a community? Children thrive in carefully curated mirrors and windows learning environments. Mirrors, where children see themselves and their own unique experiences represented and reflected back at them, and windows into lives different from their own, opening up new avenues for curiosity, empathy and learning about our diverse world. The routine of the preschool is a blend of child-lead inquiry in our vast indoor/outdoor provision with some carefully planned adult lead learning in their small key-groups. Group Time’s are planned to implement our curriculum and cultural calendar in a way which is playful, joyful and meaningful for all. Our team are fully trained and experienced in adapting their teaching to meet the needs of all children and the room’s SENCo and qualified teacher enhance that provision. We are looking for a motivated and energetic Level 3 qualified Early Years Practitioner to join one of our under 3s rooms. This role is 37.5 hours per week, with a 1.30pm finish on Fridays! We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups and those which reflect our local community. We aren't just any nursery, we're an independent charity in the heart of Easton committed to quality child-centred early education. Our children love the centre for its huge garden which inspires risky and messy play of all kinds. Attached to our excellent outdoor provision we have a studio offering woodwork, clay and other medias as well as an allotment. On Fridays, we have Forest School! We are proud of the role we play as educators in our community and are dedicated to developing quality practice and thinking about the ‘bigger picture’. All staff have opportunities to develop their own knowledge and skills in all aspects of early education through regular training (in house and externally) as well as attending 6-weekly supervisions. Some things to know about ECCC:

• Our Centre was established in 1985 and moved to its current location in 1999. We are an independent charity who is able to react quickly to changes and adapt our approaches to best suit children, family and staff needs.
• Our vision is to provide ‘a sense of belonging not just fitting in’. We explore ‘mirrors’ representing ourselves and ‘windows’ into other cultures through food, stories and lively events.
• We fully embrace diversity and the different perspectives, interests and strengths that make everyone unique.
• We comprise of Bumblebees and Butterflies (6mths-2yrs), Sunshine (2-3 yrs) and Rainbow (Preschool). We have three gardens including one large outdoor space, plus a community allotment plot.
